Our Commitment to Sustainable Development and Peace in Nigeria
Project 1: Protect our Future Peace Project




The “Protect Our Future Peace Project” lies at the heart of CHDST’s endeavors, embodying our commitment to fostering a peaceful and prosperous future for Nigeria. Through comprehensive training programs and community initiatives, we equip stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge to address conflicts, promote peace, and build resilient communities. By engaging with diverse groups and advocating for sustainable solutions, we strive to safeguard the well-being and aspirations of future generations, ensuring a legacy of harmony and prosperity for all.
Project 2: Peace Camp







The Centre organizes annual peace camps for young people from Niger Delta. We also extend invitation to those from outside the region. The camp provides an atmosphere of friendship for students to learn and practice conflict transformation. More than 1500 young persons have benefited from this annual training. Sponsored by United States Institute for Peace (USIP), Ini & Wolf Von Stauffenberg, Konrad Adenaueur Foundation, NED and others.
Project 3: State Employment And Expenditure For Results Project (SEEFOR)

This is a collaboration between the WorldBank, European Union, Federal Government and the Rivers State Government. The Objective of the SEEFOR Project is to enhance opportunities for employment and access to social-economic activities and improve public expenditure management system in participating states. This project was conducted in 2016 in Rivers State. CHDST was one of the CSOs implementing partners in Rivers State. We facilitated the process in Emohua Local Government Area and Ikwerre local government area. The method use for executing this project was the participatory approach.
Project 4: Talking Across Generations on Education (TAGE)






“Talking Across Generations on Education” initiative by CHDST facilitates meaningful dialogue and collaboration between different age groups to address educational challenges in Nigeria. Through intergenerational exchanges, we harness the collective wisdom and experiences of diverse generations to develop innovative solutions for improving education access, quality, and relevance. By bridging the gap between elders and youths, this initiative fosters mutual understanding, promotes lifelong learning, and empowers communities to create a brighter future for generations to come.
Project 5: Civic and Electoral Education In The Niger Delta (Peaceful 2015 Elections In The Niger Delta)





The Civic and Electoral Education in the Niger Delta initiative, spearheaded by CHDST, played a pivotal role in ensuring peaceful elections in 2015. Through comprehensive civic education programs and grassroots mobilization efforts, we empowered citizens across the region to actively participate in the electoral process while promoting non-violence and responsible voting practices. By fostering a culture of civic engagement and democratic values, we contributed to the successful conduct of elections, strengthening democratic institutions and promoting stability in the Niger Delta. This initiative underscores our commitment to promoting peaceful and inclusive governance for the advancement of our communities.
Project 6: Vision Nigeria Radio Programme






The Vision Nigeria Radio Programme, an initiative led by CHDST, serves as a dynamic platform for civic engagement and public discourse. Through interactive discussions and thought-provoking conversations, we aim to raise awareness and stimulate dialogue on pressing issues such as civic participation, human rights, democracy, and good governance. By engaging with diverse stakeholders and amplifying diverse voices, this radio programme fosters informed citizenship and empowers individuals to actively contribute to the socio-political development of Nigeria. Project 7: Voters Education Programme In 9 Local Governments




The Voters Education Programme in 9 Local Governments, led by CHDST, aims to empower communities in Rivers State with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate effectively in electoral processes. Through workshops, community meetings, street theatre, and radio outreach, we strive to raise awareness about the importance of voter registration and civic engagement. By targeting youths, first-time voters, women, and those in rural areas, we seek to promote inclusivity and ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights. Together, we’re building a more informed and engaged electorate for a stronger democracy.
Project 8: Traditional Conflict Prevention & Management in The Niger Delta




CHDST’s Traditional Conflict Prevention & Management initiative in the Niger Delta is a vital endeavor aimed at addressing the root causes of conflicts in the region. Through surveys, focus group discussions, and interviews, we identify the drivers of conflict and develop tailored workshops to strengthen traditional mechanisms for resolution. By empowering local communities in Emohua, Ikwerre, and Ahoada East Local Governments, we promote sustainable peace and stability. The vision is to strengthen traditional Mechanism for conflict resolutions. About 1200 persons have benefitted. Sponsored by Konrad Adenaueur Foundation With the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, we’re working towards building resilient communities where traditional wisdom plays a central role in conflict transformation.
Project 9: NGO Capacity Building Workshop on Non Violent Change




The NGO Capacity Building Workshop on Nonviolent Change, a collaborative effort by CHDST and the International Centre for Non-Violence, is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering positive social transformation. Through these workshops, held in Rivers State, we empower NGOs with the necessary skills and strategies to advocate for change through peaceful means. With support from the International Centre for Non-Violence and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, these workshops equip participants with the tools needed to effectively promote nonviolent solutions and drive meaningful progress in our communities.
Project 10 Training Workshops 0n Conflict Transformation





The Training Workshops on Conflict conducted by CHDST serve as critical platforms for building capacity and fostering understanding in conflict resolution. With a focus on empowering individuals with practical skills, these workshops engage stakeholders from diverse backgrounds in dialogue and skill-building exercises. By leveraging insights from surveys and interviews with over 200 stakeholders, our workshops aim to address the nuanced dynamics of conflict in Nigeria. Through collaborative efforts with partners such as the United States Institute for Peace and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, we continue to equip communities with the tools needed to navigate and transform conflict effectively.
